Disability campaigner Michael McEwan hears how attitudes surrounding disability have changed over the last four decades. As Michael celebrates his 40th birthday this year, he speaks to his parents about their experiences of raising a child with cerebral palsy back in the 1980鈥檚. Michael also catches up with friend and former pupil of Ashcraig Secondary School Martin Dougan to share their thoughts and memories of what it was like attending a high school specifically for pupils with disabilities. Catherine Graham, Head of Inclusion for Glasgow City Council also speaks to Michael about how education became much more inclusive for pupils with disabilities in the 1990鈥檚 and Lyn Pornaro, Chief Executive Officer, Disability Equality Scotland explains what impact the introduction of the disability discrimination act in 1995 had on people living with a disability.
