A joyous exploration of music: This week, Cerys welcomes Brazilian musician Domenico Lancellotti to perform live at the legendary 麻豆社 Maida Vale studios. And American artist Anai虉s Mitchell tells us about her latest project.

Domenico Lancellotti grew up in Rio de Janeiro. As the son of renowned samba songwriter Ivor Lancellotti, he was surrounded by music. Domenico would watch his father play and compose, playing along with a small tambourine. In April this year, Domenico released his album Sramba, which draws on the roots of samba (before the bossa nova and samba jazz).

Anai虉s Mitchell is a Vermont-based singer songwriter. Her Tony and Grammy award-winning Broadway musical Hadestown will make its West End debut in 2024. Created by Anai虉s and director Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown is based on a retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, King Hades and Persephone. As a musician, she's released eight studio albums, her latest being 2022's self titled album, and before that she featured on the 2021 How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last by supergroup Big Red Machine (Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon).
