Bath Mozartfest 2022: Mozart and Schubert's 'Trout'

Pianist Simon Trp膷eski plays variations by Mozart, and the Nash Ensemble perform Schubert's famous 'Trout' Piano Quintet in Bath's Assembly Rooms at the 2022 annual Mozartfest.

Highlights from 2022 Bath Mozartfest continue with works by Mozart and Schubert. Recorded in the grand setting of Bath's Assembly Rooms, the brilliant Macedonian pianist Simon Trp膷eski revels in the delicacy and invention of Mozart's "Variations come un agnello". Next the Nash Ensemble perform one of Schubert's most popular works for piano and strings, the Trout quintet. Written in 1819 during a particularly happy period in the young composer's life, the nickname comes from his song "Die Forelle" or The Trout. Schubert repurposed this charming melody to form the basis for a set of variations in the fourth movement.
