Wales On Air

Alex Jones combines a century of recordings in the Â鶹Éç Wales archive with stirring music from the Â鶹Éç National Orchestra of Wales and National Chorus of Wales for a unique concert reflecting life in Wales across the last hundred years.

From the moving spectacle of the Falklands War to the drama of the miners’ strike, from ordinary lives and dramatic weather events to Welsh sporting highlights, Alex finds clips that transport us through time.

Each section is illustrated with music played by the Â鶹Éç National Orchestra of Wales with music from Welsh composers Sir Karl Jenkins and Grace Williams.

Paul Mealor found fame when he composed a piece for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton before scoring a Christmas number one for the Military Wives. In this concert, Paul premieres a piece adapted from the music he wrote for the TV series Wonders of the Celtic Deep.

The concert also features memories from some of the people included in the clips, including Simon Weston, Sir Gareth Edwards and weatherman Derek Brockway.
