'S fhada bho bha àireamhean geòidh na chùis uallaich do choimhearsnachdan croitearachd air Ghàidhealtachd agus na h-Eileanan. Thathar a' coireachadh na geòidh ghlasa gu h-àraid gu bheil iad ag ithe cus den fheòir, a' truailleadh na talmhainn agus a' milleadh na h-àrainneachd. Tha oidhirpean air a bhith gan dèanamh le Buidheann Nàdair na h-Alba thairis air na bliadhnaichean a dh'fhalbh le maoineachadh airson sgeama spadaidh. Nuair a thàinig am maoineachadh sin gu crìoch an uiridh agus gun ghealltanas ann gum biodh barrachd ri thighinn, nochd croitearan draghan mun droch bhuaidh a bhiodh aige seo air croitearachd agus an àrainneachd san àm ri teachd. Anns a' Ghearran, ge-tà, dh'ainmich Riaghaltas na h-Alba maoineachadh de £50,000 thairis air dà bhliadhna 'son smachd a chumail air na geòidh. Bidh seo ri fhaighinn dha coimhearsnachdan ann an Leòdhas, na Hearadh, Uibhist, Arcaibh, Colla is Tiriodh. Ach mar a tha ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ a' faighinn a-mach, tha draghan ann am measg chroitearan nach eil an sùim seo gu leòr airson an t-suidheachadh a leasachadh.

Geese

Geese
Geese have long presented agricultural problems for crofters in the Highland and Islands. Greylag geese, particularly, have bore the brunt of complaints from farmers who feel the birds are threatening their way of life through over-grazing and also damaging the environment, especially the unique machair habitats of the Western Isles. Efforts have been made over the past 10 years to keep greylag numbers under control by funding provided by NatureScot. However, with funding ceasing last year and proposals to end the lethal control scheme looming, the Scottish Government stepped in with £50,000 of funding over two years to continue schemes to control goose numbers. Crofters, however, have been voicing their worries to ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ that the new money - which will be rolled out in Orkney, Lewis and Harris, Uist, Tiree and Coll - is not enough to combat the problem.

Sicily

Sicily
Tha Riaghaltas na h-Eadailte a' beachdachadh air drochaid a thogail eadar eilean Sicily agus Calabria air tìr-mòr na dùthcha, thar Chaolas Mhessina. Bhiodh i 3km a dh'fhaid agus tha cuid dòchasach gun toireadh i togail dha eaconamaidh a’ chinn a deas. Bho linn nan Ròmanach, tha beachd air a bhith ann gum biodh Sicily na b' fhèarr dheth nam biodh e ceagailte ri tìr-mòr na h-Eadailt agus chan e seo a’ chiad turas a thathas air coimhead air a leithid a dhèanamh. Chaidh fheuchainn roimhe ann an 2008, nuair a bha Silvio Berlusconia na Phrìomh Mhinistear, ach chuir an riaghaltas a thàinig às a dhèidh stad air an sin. Tha an deasbad a bh, ann an uair sin ann fhathast, le feadhainn a' faicinn bhuannachdan agus feadhainn eile cron. Tha ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ ann an ceann a deas na h-Eadailte, a' faighinn a-mach mu mar a tha daoine a' faireachdainn mu dhrochaid, air gach taobh den Chaolas.

Sicily

Sicily
The Italian Government is looking at the possibility of building a bridge over the Strait of Messina, joining the island of Sicily with Calabria on the mainland. The bridge would be around 3km long and some hope that it would boost the economy in the south. The idea that Sicily would benefit from being connected to the mainland has been around since Roman times and the idea of a bridge has been investigated before. A project was started in 2008, when Silvio Berlusconi was Prime Minister, but the next government put a stop to it. The debate is still ongoing with some seeing harm where others see benefits. ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ is in the south of Italy, speaking to people on both sides of the Strait.
