Experimental Explorations with Ernest Hood
Two hours of experimental and avant-garde music and a celebration of Ernest Hood's 1975 proto-ambient album, Neighbourhoods.
We celebrate the dreamy, proto-ambient music of Ernest Hood who took up the zither after a devastating bout of Polio - and a year spent in an iron lung - prevented him from being able to play his guitar. Alongside playing the zither, Hood also began using a wire recorder to collect the sounds around him in his hometown of Portland. Initially assembling this field recordings for his radio show, Hood eventually wove them into his gorgeous 1975 album Neighbourhoods, which received a long awaited re-release a few years go.
