A joyous and eclectic exploration via music, poetry and guests
An eclectic mix of blues, jazz and soul from around the globe. Cerys' guest is structural engineer and author Roma Agrawal. Plus we also hear from Dan Saladino and Susanna Clarke.
An eclectic handpicked Sunday soundtrack with blues, mariachi, jazz and soul, featuring tracks from Chick Corea, Raffaella Carra, Fat Cops and Deyah. This week Cerys' guest is Roma Agrawal, the engineer and author.
Roma Agrawal MBE is a structural engineer and author with a physics degree. As an engineer she's worked on various buildings and bridges including The Shard. As an advocate for the industry, Roma encourages under-represented groups such as women to consider roles in engineering, sciences and technical careers. In 2018 Roma's first book BUILT was published, where she looked at how construction has evolved from the mud huts of our ancestors to towers of steel that reach into the sky. Roma's latest book is How Was That Built? is a children's book giving a behind-the-scenes look at some of the world's most amazing landmarks.
Writer, broadcaster and food journalist Dan Saladino shares facts on food diversity from his upcoming book Eating To Extinction: The World's Rarest Food and Why We Need To Save Them, from apples and potatoes to coffee beans.
Winner of this year's Women's Prize For Fiction, Susanna Clarke tells us about the inspiration behind her novel Piranesi, and the music she listened to whilst creating the mystery about a man living alone in a labyrinth house.
