The Festive Foodie: Part 2
Kim makes the most of the festive food shopping list with small plates and leftovers.
There’s more to Christmas dining than Christmas day; Kim set out to make the most of the Christmas food shopping list with small plates and leftovers for the whole festive season, meeting local producers, suppliers and chefs right across Northern Ireland.
In the heart of the Sperrins Kim samples some local cheese and pairs it with handmade oatcakes from Castledawson. Chef Ian Orr prepares some party food, and backstage at the Lyric Theatre Panto comedians Grime and McKee sample some tasty seasonal small plates. Then it’s off to St George’s market to find out how fish and shellfish fit into the Christmas menu, and Monica Dike from Poland talks Kim through some smoked Polish delicacies.
Plus – with people spending more than even before on their festive food and vast amounts ending up in the bin, Kim gets advice on how to manage your Christmas food shopping budget and make the most of all those leftovers.
