The Festive Foodie: Part 1
Kim Lenaghan cooks up a feast for the Christmas season, with a few modern twists.
Kim takes the pressure off Christmas day by sharing culinary tips to make your festive feast simply unforgettable, and along the way visits local producers, suppliers and chefs right across Northern Ireland.
In Upperlands, Kim dons her wellies to visit free-range turkey farmer Jonathan Buchanan, and in Belfast carries out at a turkey taste test with chef Stephen Jeffers at Forestside cookery school – will a traditionally reared bronze beat the trusty frozen? With more and more consumers deciding to forgo meat, Kim visits the Hidden City Café in Derry to learn how to prepare a handy vegan dish for the festive table, while Damian Cole whips up some snazzy cocktails using local gin. Plus, do you know how many miles your food has travelled to reach the Christmas dinner table? Kim finds out from retail analyst Donald McFetridge - and figures out how to go green this Christmas.
