Tribunals and Cold Callers
An unclaimed winning premium bond bought in 1962, a recent change in policy in Northern Ireland and what to do about unwanted phone calls .
Are you the owner of a premium bond bought in Northern Ireland back in 1962? It's a winner and the money is sitting there waiting for you to collect it.
Chris Dowsett of National Savings and Investments told us there are nearly 20,000 unclaimed premium bond prizes worth over 拢700 thousand pounds here. Roland is inundated with unwanted phone calls despite repeated registration on the Telephone Preference service. What can he do ? We constantly hear from listeners who are fed up of unwanted calls - sometimes from overseas, others looking like a UK number and often a number very similar to your bank or HMRC. That's about to change according to Shaun Gloyn of HMRC. Linda spent the day with Community Advice in Fermanagh where she heard of a recent change in policy in Northern Ireland which has changed part of the Tribunal Appeals process. Instead of the appeals service getting the medical evidence from the GP before the hearing, applicants now have to chase it up themselves, pick out the important bits and bring it with them!
