How effective are Domestic Violence Prevention Programmes? There is evidence that domestic violence perpetrators can change their behaviour, but a new report from the charity Transform Justice says there is not enough evidence to show that prevention programmes are working and more research is needed. Jenni speaks to Penelope Gibbs from Transform Justice and Donna Sullivan, a Senior Practitioner from Bridging to Change, a Manchester-based service for perpetrators of domestic violence and their partners or ex-partners and Suzanne Jacob, CEO of SafeLives, a national charity dedicated to ending Domestic Abuse.
An army of competitive dancers is ready to take over the world. As a group of 13-year olds battle for power and perfection both on and off stage, Dance Nation at London's Almeida Theatre explores youth, ambition and self-discovery. The playwright Clare Barron joins Jenni to talk about the inspiration for the play, challenging cast stereotypes and women's work on stage. Image credit: Marc Brenner.
Iron deficiency is still the world's most common nutritional deficiency. It affects women more than men and can have alarming consequences including doubling the risk of maternal mortality. Dr Jahnavi Daru explains what we need to know about anaemia and how we can fix it.
In a series for Woman's Hour, the writer and broadcaster Sali Hughes talks to women about objects that are important to their lives. The things we cherish aren't always vintage, or antique or expensive. Instead, we treasure the stuff that reminds us of special people, or particular times, or which stand for something important. Today it's the turn of the writer and blogger Rachel Eling who is looking back to the millennium and her travelcard.
What does it mean to be a woman bartender? Georgia Billing is a bartender who takes a scientific approach to making cocktails. Pippa Guy is a senior bartender at the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel in London. She is the second woman to hold this position ever, and the first in over 100 years.
