Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, Life at University, Domestic Violence and Lorna Goodison
Jenni Murray speaks to Jamaica's poet laureate Lorna Goodison, and Andi Oliver shares a precious object. Plus a look at housing stock for victims of domestic abuse.
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has returned to prison in Iran after a three day release that saw her reunited with her daughter. What next for her, her family, and efforts to secure her permanent release?
A-level results are in and soon thousands of teenagers will begin life at university. But is your child prepared? We speak to an 18 year-old about to go to Oxford, a mother whose daughter begins her studies in Bath next month and we get some expert advice on how to thrive living away from home.
When a woman flees domestic violence, where can she go? New research has found that pre-conceived notions of love and violence on the part of housing officers can mean that women are not receiving the support they need when they request safe housing. Professor Jo Little who carried out the research joins Jenni along with Sian Hawkins from Women's Aid to discuss.
The next episode in our series about objects; Sali Hughes has been talking to women about objects in their lives that are important to them. Today it's the turn of Andi Oliver, chef and TV presenter.
Lorna Goodison was appointed Jamaica's first female poet laureate last year. An award winning poet and author, her writings focus on colonialism and its legacy, racism and social justice. She has now published her first collection of essays 'Redemption Ground' and speaks to Jenni about the importance of women in literature and her aim to get young people interested in poetry.
