Bog Mummies/Cuirp sa Pholl-mhonach

Bàsan annasach as na boglaichean na Roinn Eòrpa. Documentary that looks to unlock the stories behind mysterious deaths in Northern Europe's ancient bogs.

Air na mòintichean, tha daoine a tha a' buain mhònach air a bhith a' tighinn tarsainn air na ceudan de chuirp a tha air a bhith glèidhte sa mhòine airson nan ceudan de bhliadhnaichean. Thairis air iomadach bliadhna, cha robh luchd-rannsachaidh a' tuigsinn ciamar a chaidh na daoine a leòn; amhaichean air an gearradh, dì-cheannadh, caolain air an tarraing a-mach, cnàmhan air am briseadh agus comharran sàthaidh. Tha fiù 's ròpan crochaidh fhathast teann timcheall nan amhaichean aca. Co bh' anns na daoine a chaidh fhàgail sna boglaichean a-measg an eabar? Anns a' phrògram seo, le taic bho teicneòlas ùr, tha eòlaichean cuirp-balmaichte a' faighinn fiosrachadh as ùr agus a' beachdachadh air ciamar agus carson a chaochail na daoine seo.

Using CT scans, advanced imaging and DNA testing, this documentary tries to unlock the stories behind mysterious deaths in Northern Europe's ancient bogs.

Across the moors, peat-cutters digging into the soil for fuel have unearthed hundreds of well-preserved mummies. Investigators puzzled for decades over the victims' disturbing injuries, which include slit throats, decapitation, disembowelment, smashed bones and stab marks. Some bodies even bear nooses or cords, still snug around their necks. Who were these people, mangled and mired in the bogs?

In this programme, bog mummy experts discover new evidence obtained through cutting-edge technology and share their own theories as to why these people died.
