Actor Stifyn Parri became a figurehead for the gay rights movement in the decade of Aids panic. Yaina Samuels overcame domestic violence and drug abuse to pioneer new help for heroin addicts. And Tanni Grey-Thompson became a paralympic wheelchair-racing champion.
