News of the winners at the 36th annual Blues Music Awards, held last week in Memphis, Tennessee. These include winner of the best acoustic album John Hammond, veteran guitarist Elvin Bishop who won multiple awards for best song, best album and band, best contemporary blues artist Gary Clark Jr. and Ruthie Foster, winner of the Koko Taylor award for best traditional blues female artist. Plus John Nemeth, Keb Mo', Marcia Ball and Janiva Magness.
