Sir Simon Rattle conducts an all-German programme: Beethoven's renowned Violin Concerto, with the young German virtuoso Veronika Eberle as soloist, Schumann's Second Symphony and Hans Werner Henze's Being Beauteous, a setting of one of Arthur Rimbaud's poems from "Les Illuminations", for the unusual group of soprano, harp and four cellos.
