This programme is a light hearted romp through some of Scotland's favourite comedy characters, told through the eyes of the actor Calum MacKinnon.

UK audiences have been fascinated with male comedic actors dressing up as women since the year dot. Calum MacKinnon will be taking us through the years from Shakespearian times right up until present day, looking at the nuances of what it is that we love about this form of performance. Featuring many of the best loved characters from the TV archives and including star interviews with Norman MacLean, Elaine C Smith and Johnny Beattie as they give their take on this twist of gender swapping British comedy. Calum will explore the Highland roots of this tradition through the radio archive recordings of the Lewis performer Caileach an Deacoin (The Deacon's Wife). Also featuring panto dames and Calum's own famous character, the much loved Hebridean matriarch, Seasaidh Lexy, as she prepares to make a return to the theatre stage with a new show.
