A' Sireadh Uaigneas/In Search of Solitude

Documentary following Niall Iain Macdonald, as he prepares for a solo row across the mighty North Atlantic.

Nuair a chuir e roimhe fhèin iomradh thar a' Chuain Sgìth eadar Steòrnabhagh is Ulapul o chionn còig bliadhna, bha e a' coimhead coltach gu robh Niall Iain Dòmhnallach air fìor dhùbhlan a thoirt dha fhèin. Cha robh ann an sin ge-tà ach a' chiad bhlas. An ath rud bha a shùil air a' Chuan Siar agus turas na aonar eadar New York agus Steòrnabhagh. Thàinig an t-ainm NY2SY gu furasta ach mar a chithear, cha tàinig mòran eile. Tha am prògram a' leantainn Niall Iain thairis air dà bhliadhna 's e a' siubhal fad Bhreatainn ag ionnsachadh sgilean ùra, a' tional airgid agus a' gabhail comhairle bho fheadhainn a bha thall is a chunnaic. Agus sin uile is e a' feuchainn ri taic a chumail ri carthannas tinneas inntinn, is e taingeil airson an taic a bha e fhèin air fhaighinn. Niall Iain Macdonald got a taste for adventure on his first solo row when he crossed the Minch from Stornoway to Ullapool five years ago. The adventure seemed daring at the time but it was a mere drop in the ocean compared to his next challenge - a solo row across the mighty North Atlantic Ocean from New York to Stornoway. The programme follows Niall Iain through more than two years of physical, mental and financial preparation, travelling the length of Britain, visiting those who have been there and got the tee-shirt, undertaking survival and navigation training while also trying to raise money and awareness of his chosen mental health charity.
