Maureen Lipman, Scottish artist Joan Eardley, China's first lady Peng Liyuan, and lying about your age. Jenni Murray hosts the show that offers a female perspective on the world.

More than twenty five years since Maureen Lipman was Beattie in BT's long-running ad campaign, she's back to playing the role of a Jewish mother for a new play on Â鶹Éç Radio 4 next month.
And in a Â鶹Éç One documentary next week, Maureen tries to come to terms with her father's memory loss, embarks on a journey to find out how memory works and understand the methods that exist to keep memory sharp in to old age.

Joan Eardley is one of the most celebrated painters who lived and worked in Scotland in the last century. It's 50 years since she died and to mark the event, we look back on her life.

When Peng Liyuan accompanied her husband President Xi Jinping on their first state visit to Moscow and parts of Africa she caused a stir with her outfits. Over the last 20 years Chinese First Ladies have kept a low profile, so what role will Peng Liyuan have as First Lady?

And how many of us lie about our age?

This week saw the start of a trial in SeattleÌýinvolving Junie Hoang, an actress who is sueing Amazon and its Internet Movie Database unit for publishing her age.Ìý However, the actress herself submitted a fake Texas identification document to IMDb to age herself down several years.Ìý

And she’s not the only one to lie about her age - Gerri Halliwell said she was 21 when the first Spice Girls’ album was released when she was really 25.Ìý Nicole Scherzinger knocked 2 years off her real age whilst Jennifer Lopez once claimed that she was 10 years younger than she actually was.Ìý

Joan Eardley is one of the most celebrated painters who lived and worked in Scotland in the last century.Ìý Famous for her sea and landscapes and for her depictions of slum children in Glasgow, her paintings and drawings reflect urban and rural Scotland in a unique way.ÌýÌýÌý

To mark the 50th anniversary of her death, there are exhibitions of her work at the and the Galleries in Edinburgh and London and the first comprehensive monograph of her work by Christopher Andreae is being published.ÌýJenni Murray talks to Christopher Andreae and Joan Eardley’s niece, Anne Morrison.
