The G8 Foreign Ministers are meeting in London and high on their agenda will be the prevention of rape and sexual violence in听conflicts around the world. Jenni speaks to Zainab Hawa Bangura听 the United Nation鈥檚 Special Representative on this issue who has been invited to speak at the G8 meeting.听She talks about her own experience of the civil war in Sierra Leone when she was threatened and forced to flee and about her recent visits to Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo where she met military men who told her that rape came with the job.

An Irish composer has been working with a scientist at Cambridge University to make music which could help non-scientists understand the DNA code. A premiere of work 鈥淗earing your Genes Evolve,鈥 can be heard at the Greenwich on Saturday 13 April.听 Dr Gribbin explains how having a son with Down鈥檚 Syndrome (Trisomy 21) inspired her to get together with her friend, , Group Leader in the MRC Laboratory of Moelcular Biology at Cambridge, to explain the interactions that can occur in genetics through sound.

'Lad culture' in higher education

Student 鈥榣ad culture鈥 has become a national issue. The phenomenon has become a catch-all term for anything from misogynistic jokes to sexual violence among students. The NUS recently published a report looking at women鈥檚 experiences of 鈥榣ad culture鈥 in higher education and the issue was a target at their national conference this week. Jenni discusses the issues with Kelley Temple, Women鈥檚 officer for the NUS and Isabel Young, who compiled the report with the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Sussex.听

Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, said this week that feminism was a 鈥渧ery dangerous鈥 phenomenon, and women should focus on their families and children.听听 So, what has been the impact of his words in Russia?听 And what is the status of feminism in Russia today? Jenni speaks to Miriam Elder, the Guardian's Moscow Correspondent.
