Dè tha Innis Tìle a’ dèanamh nach eil sinne?
Tha seann sgeulachdan Innis Tìle gu h-eachdraidheil air a bhith air an innse ann an dreach saga. Sin le toiseachd - far a bheil eachraidh na sgeòil ga h-innse, meadhain - far a bheil sabaid no strì a choireigin a’ tachairt, is an uair sin deireadh - far a bheil gnothaichean ga rèiteach. Tha Darren Linc air a bhith ann an Innis Tìle a’ rannsachadh suidheachadh eaconamach na dùthcha – eachdraidh, strì, is dè ‘n co-dhùnadh a thig à s. Thuit na bancaichean, thuit an t-seann riaghaltas, is fhuair an dùthaich iasad èiginn bhon IMF. A-nis ged-thà , tha fàs san eaconamaidh (2.7% ann an 2011), is tha an à ireamh de dhaoine gun obair air tuiteam. Dè tha Innis Tìle a’ dèanamh nach eil sinne?
What is Iceland doing that we are not?
Old Icelandic tales historically have been told in the style of sagas. That’s with a beginning – where the history of the tale is told, a middle – where a fight, or struggle, occurs and the end where the situation is resolved. Darren Laing has been to Iceland to investigate the country’s economic situation – the history, struggle and the resolution. The banks fell, the old government fell and the country obtained an emergency loan from the IMF. Now though, there is growth in the economy (2.7% in 2011), and the number of people out of work has fallen. What is Iceland doing that we are not?
