As well as his Athens gold medal for the kilometre, he has held the World Championship four times. At a velodrome in Bolivia, 12,000 ft up in the Andes, is the possibility of breaking the all time record of 58.875 seconds and attempting the 500 metre record of 25.85 seconds.
