Blinded by an accident in the early 19th century, Louis Braille aspires to improve the status of blind people.

Louis Braille was determined that he and other blind children at an institution in Paris should be rescued from being treated almost as social outcasts. But the only way to do this would be to devise a system which would enable them to read.

John Pilkington's drama stars Adam Godley as Louis Braille, John Rowe as Pignier, Alex Etchart as Young Louis, Sean Baker as Simon-Rene/Guadet and Carl Prekopp as Gabriel.
