Timmy Spider and the Golden Scroll by Ted S
Read by Chris Lew Kum Hoi from the 麻豆社 Radio Drama Company.
Timmy Spider lived in the Land under the Sofa and was interested in archaeology since he was a spiderling. He had recovered many mystical objects such as 'the piece of cat food' or 'the lost earing.' While he was looking at his many objects that he'd found over the years he heard a noise and saw a light flashing. 'Hey, what do you have to say for yourselves?' he thought frustrated by the terrible din. He sneaked out from under the sofa to see what was happening.
His eight eyes focused on the screen. His tiny spider jaw dropped so low he would have been a reticulated python if he was bigger. He saw a man running from some men with knives. He was clutching a golden scroll and Timmy Spider thought 'I want to be like that guy'. He heard the name 'Indiana Jones' and he instantly looked for something to be his bullwhip. 'Aha! The perfect whip' he said brandishing a piece of string. Then he saw a bottle cap and put it on his head and said 'this is quite uncomfortable but it makes me look cool'.
Timmy decided he needed to get out into the real world so he crept through the letterbox and outside he felt exhausted but he had made it. He saw bright lights and grinning pumpkins. He saw a very still spider frozen in suspended animation and it was bigger than any spider he could have imagined except when he had seen a picture of a Huntsman spider (they're the biggest spiders in the world) and said 'hey mate, having a nice evening?' He waited a while. No reply. He said to himself 'how rude' and thought 'it's weird how rubbery that guy's legs were' as he wandered off.
Then he saw what he'd been looking for. The Golden Scroll! It was on the pavement. It was all scrunched up but it was gleaming like a diamond and it had strange writing on it: C...r...u...n...c...h...i...e. What could it mean? He grabbed it in his miniature pincers but in front of him stood a giant foot that was coming towards him!
He saw a strange metal black object and thought 'maybe I can create a diversion by sliding these'. The foot spoke and said 'hey, there are my missing car keys' and a giant hand appeared out of nowhere and picked them up and wandered off. Timmy felt overwhelmed and decided it was time to go home.
He made it back after the long journey and thought 'maybe I should make a museum'. He arranged all of his invaluable objects under the sofa. The Golden Scroll was perched the highest out of all the things. He felt a tinge of pride inside his chest. 'I'm not going to invite that rude spider from outside though,' he thought.
But then he heard a strange buzzing sound and it was coming towards him...
