Much Ado About Nothing

Ìý

The Â鶹Éç's Shakespeare season continues with David Nicholls' modern interpretation of Shakespeare's much loved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

Ìý

A romantic comedy set in a regional newsroom, Much Ado charts the relationship between ex-lovers and warring co-anchors Beatrice and Benedick.

Ìý

Running parallel to this tempestuous partnership is the whirlwind romance between weathergirl Hero and sports presenter Claude.

Ìý

Beatrice and Benedick are clearly made for each other, but it takes their colleagues' well-meaning trickery to get them to finally admit to each other, and most importantly to themselves, that they are a match made in heaven.

Ìý

Claude and Hero's love affair is far more straightforward, and they make plans to wed hot on the heels of their first meeting.

Ìý

However, plotting of a sinister kind stokes Claude's jealousy and he rejects Hero at the altar, with dramatic consequences.

Ìý

All's well that ends well, though, as Much Ado has an uplifting conclusion where all love interests eventually find understanding and happiness.

Ìý

Sarah Parish plays Beatrice, Damian Lewis plays Benedick, Billie Piper plays Hero, Tom Ellis plays Claude, Martin Jarvis plays Leonard, Nina Sosanya plays Margaret and Derek Riddell plays Don.
