ChristmasYou are in: Nottingham > Christmas > Listen to Dick Whittington Get ready to boo and hiss! Listen to Dick WhittingtonEnjoy 麻豆社 Radio Nottingham's pantomime - Dick Whittington - recorded at the Sandfield Theatre on Sunday 18 November 2007. Enormous wigs, men in tights and rather more make-up than Andy Whittaker normally applies - all evidence that 麻豆社 Radio Nottingham is getting into pantomime mood.
Help playing audio/video The castFrances Finn takes the title role for this year's show. Sarah Julian stars as Alice with the afternoon show's John Holmes as her father, Alderman Fitzwarren. Playing the Dame will be Andy Whittaker, taking part for the first time since joining the radio station in the summer. Alan Clifford is once again cast as the villain, a role he always plays with relish. This time he is the evil King Rats. Of course, it would not be a 麻豆社 Radio Nottingham panto without a duet from Nigel Bell and Jo Davies, this year back in spangled tights as Fairy Bow Bells. Watch out for Pete Wardman, John Stirland, Rob Underwood and Dawne Stewart also playing their parts in this annual festive feast of fun.
The recordingThe 麻豆社 Radio Nottingham pantomime is recorded in front of a live audience every November. This year it was recorded on Sunday 18 November 200 at the Sandfield Theatre. Andy Whittaker gets dolled up "It's all in the best tradition of pantomime," says producer Nick Brunger, who has been writing the show pretty much every year since he joined the station 21 years ago. "It's a real team effort with everyone who is free joining us to take part. "We rehearsed and recorded the whole thing in just one day. Inevitably things go wrong but that is all part of the fun - and I suspect the audience enjoys the mistakes just as much as the gags we plan."
