Sweet nectar!

Lavender was brought to this country by the Romans.

They valued it for many reasons, especially its healing, soothing and medicinal properties.

As in Roman times, lavender continues to be used today as a relaxant for massage.

Norfolk is of course famous for its lavender. Caley Mill, at Heacham is home to Norfolk Lavender and dates back to 1087. It is one of England's oldest lavender farms.

The surrounding land was planted with the herb in 1935 and today the 100 acres or so of lavender form the basis of Norfolk Lavender Ltd.

Lavender oil is used to make a range of products including pot-pourri, scent and bathing oils, all of which can be bought from the estate shop.
