Welney in East England provides a perfect wetland for over-wintering birds.

Wild swans arrive every autumn from their breeding grounds in Iceland and the Arctic tundra.

The reserve was originally established for Bewick's Swans, the smallest and rarest of the three species of wild swan in the UK.

"These days we've got some fantastic restored wetlands - places where human effort has brought the wildlife alive. And they're especially good spots for watching wintering birds."
