Wallington in the heart of Northumberland is a magnificent mansion house dating back to the late 17th Century.

As well as being important for our agricultural heritage Wallington is also home to some very special wildlife including Red Squirrels.

Key attraction:The house boasts a renowned collection of ceramics, paintings, needlework and a collection of dolls' houses. The Central Hall is decorated with a series of scenes of Northumbrian history by William Bell Scott in a Pre-Raphaelite style.

Disabled access: Parking next to ticket office and at Walled Garden.

Main house - three steps to entrance area with handrail, plus ramp available. Ground floor accessible. Steps with handrail to Cabinet of Curiosities. Lift to upper floors.

Adapted toilet available in courtyard and main house.

Grounds - map of accessible route available from information centre. Braille guide Induction loop in reception, shop.

Getting there:

Located in Northumberland approx 18 miles north west of Newcastle upon Tyne. From Newcastle take the A696, airport/Ponteland road, and turn off on the B6342 to Cambo.

By bus: Snaith service 419 from Morpeth - Wed, Fri and Sat only. Arriva 508 service from Newcastle - Sunday, June-October only.

Opening times:

Open September 3-November 4 2007 - Monday, Wednesday-Sunday afternoons from 1pm-5.30pm (closed Tuesdays).

The walled garden and grounds are open throughout the year. Walled garden is open April 1-September 30 daily, 10am-7pm. Then open October1-October 31, daily between 10am-6pm. Also November 1-February 29 open 10am-4pm daily.

Charges:

Charges: Adults £8; Children £4; Family ticket £20. Garden and grounds only - Adults £5.50; Children £2.75, Family Ticket £14.
