Your Story: My Gran at 21

How much was your furniture and house? 3 bedroomed house:£2,500.3 peice suit:£79.00Oak dresser:359.00oak table:349.006 chairs £36.00 and carpets for the lounge and dining room were £36.00

What was the latest fashion at 21 and did you have a special outfit? The fashion was the Princess Line with calf length skirts(fitted).No I did not have a favourite outfit.

What music did you like and why? I liked Gilbert and Sullivan because it was amusing. I also liked the pop songs of the time.

What happened on your birthday? I had a party in the house and because I was engaged all the presants were for the new house.I can remember that decorated my own cake.

How did you celebrate Cristmas? At an Aunts house with late nights,lots of food and usual Christmas games.On Christmas Eve we went carol singing.

Where did you spend your holidays and other vacations? We spent most of our holidays camping on the Northumbrian coast.

What world events were there when you were 21? Kennady was president of U.S.A.There was a cold war between Russia and America. Harold Macmillan was prime minster of Great Britan.

Can you remember anything that changed your life at 21? I got engaged to be married,bought my first house and left home.
