Your Story: My Nana's Story |
|
I started my work when I was 16 at WD and HO wills. I finished when I was 21 because I was Pregnent. Women were not alloud to work. They had to leave their jobs. When they had their baby they could not go back to their jobs.I thought the pay was, good I got payed £ 4.00 a week. which I spent on knitting wool and going out whith friends. I also had two friends called Margaret and Joan. I also thought the job was good and later on Margaret was my Bridesmaid.
I learnt alot about Britain since 1948 and I realized how much things have changed from now, for example you could not go back to your job if you had a baby you would have to leave. But now they have maternity leave.
