Your Story: Betty Walker

I interviewed my Gran as part of our project to see what happened when she was 21, this is the story.

When I was 21, I was testing valves for TVs and I worked out. But I had to apply for the job. We did`t need any qualifications. I worked with women, men and girls. My friends were Charlotte, Lottie and other people. I worked 8 hours but it was not tiring. I think I got paid up to £6 to £7. I worked with friends and i spent my money on clothes. It could be boring at times. I got to work by bus or walked. I spent my money on, going to the pictures or dancing. My name is Betty Walker, and and this was when i was 21. More...
