Your Story: Callum`s grandad |
|
I was about to return to sea and sign a contract
with "Esso" tankers when the seamens strike started in late 1960 I could not get back to sea for a few weeks and eventually lost the contract. I did one more trip on a ship called the Brandon Priory. then packed up and started work as a bus conducter with South Shieds corporation on the trolly buses earing about £7.00 to £8.00 a week. some mornings i started work at 5.30am and other times 3.00pm till midnight. Some times if it was raining you could get a shock from the bus hand rails so could the passengers.
