We visited different Italian cafes, fish shops and businesses in community.

Your Story: History Day at our School 2003

This year we learnt about the Italian families that came to live in our valleys. The Romans were from Italy. They came to our valley long, long ago.

We learnt that many Italian families came from Bardi in Italy in the 1920’s and 1930’s. All our coal mines were very busy mining coal for all of the world. The Italians opened cafes and restaurants and made ice-cream. More...
