Concert information
鈥淚n the rapturous swell of the world鈥檚 breath to drown, to sink unconscious鈥upreme bliss!鈥 Three composers travel to the outer limits of human emotion 鈥 and then surrender to sheer beauty. Wagner鈥檚 vast, rapturous operatic visions are famous as some of the most overwhelming experiences in all music, and there鈥檚 a good reason why Richard Strauss鈥檚 Four Last Songs are so beloved - few pieces more poignantly distil both the sweetness and sadness of a life at sunset, and Erin Wall鈥檚 interpretation has been justly praised. But Rued Langgaard鈥檚 鈥渉eaven-storming鈥 Sixth Symphony might need some introduction. Don鈥檛 worry: Thomas Dausgaard is the most committed possible champion of his fellow-countryman鈥檚 lush, spectacular music.
