麻豆社 Proms Sessions, run in partnership with Royal Albert Hall Education & Outreach, are a series of free workshops and masterclasses which offer young people the opportunity to work with some of the fantastic artists appearing at the Proms. The Sessions aim to develop the skills and confidence of aspiring young musicians while giving them a unique opportunity to work closely with soloists, conductors and either in the intimate setting of the Elgar Room or on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall!
This session will offer young jazz musicians the chance to work with trumpeter James Morrison and his band in an intimate and inclusive setting, in advance of his appearance in Prom 27. As well as playing and exploring jazz improvisation alongside James, his band and musicians from the 麻豆社 Concert Orchestra, participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and get tips and tricks straight from the master.
The session will run from 11.30-13.30. Please note this workshop is open to 14-21 year olds who play a melody line instrument to Grade 5+ standard (or equivalent) and have some experience of playing jazz music. Unfortunately un-tuned percussion, bass, keyboards and guitars cannot be accommodated. Places are very limited so book early to avoid disappointment!
