Concert information
It was the composer鈥檚 brother who suggested the name for Tchaikovsky鈥檚 Sixth Symphony, and he told it like it is: 鈥淧ath茅tique鈥 simply means 鈥渇ull of feeling鈥. And amidst all the myths and mysteries that surround the writing of Tchaikovsky鈥檚 final masterpiece, one thing鈥檚 clear: the melodic inspiration and emotional honesty of this glorious (but heartbreaking) music. Martyn Brabbins opens the concert in an altogether more languid world of Debussy鈥檚 Pr茅lude 脿 l鈥檃pr猫s-midi d鈥檜n faune, and in between, there鈥檚 beauty, clarity and timeless grace in the first really great piano concerto by Mozart, featuring a soloist who鈥檚 only slightly older than the composer was when he wrote it, Arthur Jussen.
