Â鶹Éç SO Plus Family: Nielsen Symphony No. 5

Â鶹Éç SO PLUS FAMILY is a series of free interactive, family-friendly workshops which introduce the music of the Â鶹Éç SO concerts at the Barbican, including a £5 ticket offer (plus booking fee*) for the evening concert. Workshops take place 6.00pm-7.00pm in the Fountain Room, before the main evening concert at 7.30pm.

French composer Ravel begins and ends this programme with two dances: a sparkling waltz and his enthralling Boléro. Prokofev wrote his energetic Piano Concerto No.3 while he was on holiday in France, but Nielsen wrote his extraordinary Fifth Symphony after World War One, taking us on musical journey from fear to hope.
