Tropical storm Danny

Derek Brockway Derek Brockway | 10:15 UK time, Wednesday, 2 September 2009

Tuesday was the first official day of the Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere from a meteorological point of view.

There's a real autumnal look to the weather at the moment as you've probably noticed! With heavy showers, thunder and gusty winds.

By this afternoon we'll be feeling the affects of the remains of tropical storm 'Danny'.

Danny is currently in the Atlantic but will cross Britain later today and into Thursday bringing a dose of heavy rain and strong to gale force winds.

I'm afraid, temperatures are set to drop too.

but not so good for the rest of us.

I wish I had better news...

Derek
