Eisteddfod highlights

Derek Brockway Derek Brockway | 13:34 UK time, Friday, 7 August 2009

Well it's my last day at the Eisteddfod today and the week has flown by. My highlight of the week was having a go at clog dancing. It was good fun but I don't think I will be giving up the day job just yet!

Overall the weather has been kind. The wellies came in handy earlier in the week with some rain and drizzle on Tuesday but on the whole we've been lucky with the weather this year.

The last three days have been dry and we've enjoyed some sunshine as well. Although temperatures haven't been that high for August the sun is still strong enough to burn and I've seen quite a few red faces on the Maes.

I've enjoyed my time at the Eisteddfod this year and have met some lovely people from all over the country. You can't please everyone in this job but many people have complimented me on my use of Welsh in my weather forecasts on Wales Today.

Hopefully it will encourage others to learn the language. There are so many excellent learning resources available these days for example www.bbc.co.uk/wales/learnwelsh

The forecast for this weekend in Wales doesn't look too bad on the whole. I can't promise wall to wall sunshine, some cloud is likely, but apart from the odd shower the emphasis is on a lot of dry weather. Top temperatures between 18 and 21 Celsius with light to moderate winds.

Monday turns cloudy, damp and breezy. Tuesday improving, becoming dry and brighter.

Have a good weekend.
Mwynhewch y penwythnos!
