Bra-la from Bala

Derek Brockway Derek Brockway | 15:18 UK time, Wednesday, 5 August 2009

Well the weather is much better at the Eisteddfod in Bala today. The sun is shining and it's looking dry for the rest of the week too. So if you're coming along don't forget your hat and suncream!

Yesterday I tried my hand at , traditional Welsh clog dancing with Tomos Dafydd. We got a few tips from one of the best in the business, Tudur Phillips from Bryn Iwan near Newcastle Emlyn. If you want to see how we got on tune in to Wales Today this evening at 6.30pm.

The thing I enjoy most about the Eisteddfod is meeting people from all over Wales and its always a good opportunity for me to practise my Welsh. So far this week I have learnt the word for muggy is 'mwll' and spotting with rain is 'pigo bwrw'!

The , Gwasanaeth Tan ac Achub Gogledd Cymru, have a stall here and they very kindly presented me with two Welsh language CD's. All new recruits to the Fire Service in North Wales are encouraged to learn Welsh.

Now I love a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, and there's no where better on the Maes than with . The ladies been meeting for over 40 years and there are now over 6000 members all over Wales all socialising in Welsh.

But it's not all about tea and cake. Some of the women spend their time clay pigeon shooting and go-karting! They also do a lot for charity and have been collecting bras for women in the third world. So it was more like 'Bra-la' than Bala on the Maes today!

Enjoy the sunshine!

Tan tro nesa
