Today marks the birth date of the much-loved, Cardiff-born author Roald Dahl - and a host of festivities are planned this month to celebrate his life.

Dahl died almost 20 years ago, in 1990, but the popularity of his books endures. What started off as a single day of celebration of the author's life on 13 September 2006 - Roald Dahl Day, to mark what would have been his 90th birthday - has grown into a month of events planned throughout September.
