Arts funding lies in the balance

The is set to announcement their funding review on Tuesday, with a meeting taking place today to discuss the fates of the 116 arts companies that currently receive financial help.

As reported in today's Western Mail, the has come under criticism as it received over £4.5m from the Arts Council of Wales last year - more than three times the grant given to the second highest recipient ( in Mold).

Nick Capaldi, the chief executive of the Arts Council of Wales (ACW), recently told Â鶹Éç's The Politics Show: "Everything is under the microscope, from large to small. In some ways, smaller community groups are doing our most important work."

He said the ACW would be bold and decisive in the 29 June funding review announcement and said they would support the best and those who engaged with communities, while balancing geography and the size of organisation.
