If you haven't discovered them already, there's a wealth of new articles on Welsh film and cinema on the Â鶹Éç Wales Arts website, written by the noted film critic and historian Dave Berry.

Dave , so we fortunate to be able to bring you just a small slice of his encyclopaedic knowledge - and love - of Welsh film in these articles that he wrote late last year.

Browse the comprehensive decade-by-decade history of Welsh film and cinema, which ranges from the pioneering years of the late 19th century to the present day.

Delve into the 52 Welsh film facts for some trivia probably too detailed to ever come up in a pub quiz. For example, did you know that Ray Milland was the first Welshman to win an Oscar in the Best Actor category? Find out what film he starred in that gained him the coveted gong.

There's also a set of features on Welsh film, focusing on different areas including how sport has a long history and importance in Welsh cinema, and how industry and transport have been represented in film.

Dave also notes his top 10 Welsh actors, and the top 10 Welsh performances in Welsh film, ranging from Roger Livesey in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943) to Catherine Zeta Jones' Oscar-winning performance in Chicago (2002).

Be sure to check back soon as we'll be adding some further articles in the near future. And let us know your thoughts - and if you can add to any of Dave's suggestions.
