If the Â鶹Éç is serious about saving or re-distributing money then perhaps they should close down the News service. For far to long now the focus of all Â鶹Éç news channels has been on purely domestic news, much of which is banale trivia and on celebrity non entities. This is interspersed with reports from America, e.g a past American football player and bit part actor O J Simpson, are we really bothered.
We are not part of the USA we are a part of Europe, and there is negligable input from continental Europe, social, economic structure or political The only Euro Centric programme in recent years has been Euro Trash - enough said.
Also why do the Â鶹Éç insist in having outside broadcast units with reports standing out in the rain, one recent report had a reporter standing outside New Scotland Yard (not to interview anyone) just to read a statement who was then passed to a reporter standing in 10 Downing St, again to read a statement. Why use so much resourse, surely we can recognise both locations and the News desk can read the words.
If the News content is the same as Sky or CNN then simply buy it from them.
