Crucial insights into who you are
On this week’s Over To You we pursue an issue triggered by your irate comments on programme trails being played too often and too early.

Last week the man responsible for trails on the World Service, Murray Holgate, defended the current policy by suggesting those who were most vulnerable to the repetition of trails are those listening live to the station online - and those listeners, he believes are a small minority.
But this week, Catherine Shaer, from Maine in the USA, wanted to know how he could be so confident about that assertion? Well the man who should know the answer to that is Jeremy Nye, Head of Audience Insights for the World Service.Ìý
And what's certainly clear is that garnering statistics about audience figures – information, by the way, that heavily influences big decisions about what the World Service broadcasts and to whom - is as much an art as a science.
He has some interesting observations to make about changing listening patterns – in particular the shift towards listening via mobile phones, which he things may trigger an increase in the size of the total audience. Let us know what you think when you’ve heard my interview with Jeremy.
Dismay in Delhi
Also on the programme, the media has had a field day with the preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi next week, and leading the charge have been Indian newspapers, radio and television apparently.
Tinku Ray, the World Service news editor in India, gives us an inside briefing.
Plus, we hear from the man who keeps the World Service on air for 25 million listeners in West Africa and South America by tending to the crucial transmitter on Ascension Island, slap bang in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Apparently social life on this remote piece of land is rather good ....but perhaps more importantly for the survival of the planet, the transmitters on Ascension Island are now being partly powered by energy from wind turbines, reducing the Â鶹Éç’s carbon footprint.

And they would not be necessary if the Â鶹Éç web site had a clear, easy to find, link labelled "New Broadcasts" or something like that, providing a list of new programmes available organised by date, or by category, or by geographical region, so that people could look for things that interest them instead of some arrogant Â鶹Éç official deciding what should interest them.
But the problem with background noise goes far beyond trailers. I frequently turn off otherwise excellent documentaries and news reports because some producer has decided to ruin the presentation with extraneous, intrusive, insulting, irrelevant noises presumably intended to help us idiotic listeners understand what the words mean. The most recent was tonight's otherwise excellent broadcast on Iran in the Wednesday documentary. I think I should start a campaign for objectors to hold back part of their licence fee until fewer programmes are ruined. (Compare stupid magazines that make some of their text illegible by printing it over pictures.)

Doors are shut that stop the mind from thinking and finding out that this GOD raised up before us is not simply someone other than us but it is what we are. We are trained to take it out of us and put it on a pedestal to admire but never to use.
Humanity on the whole with such a low threshold of their brain being used have become plastic, existing in a truly subconscious state where the truth becomes a lie and then the truth and then a lie.. Humankind have been trained and abused with so many absurdities embedded in their mind that have no bases to exist.
I am a ham operator and I see the media being used and controlled. So many established institutions are spouting principles that are wrong to be thought. I see them being used to attack anyone who knows better than the program dialog of their answers and questions. They exist in unfounded fears. Abusive and constant reprisals are created from out of a indoctrinated matrix's trained then from their birth that keeps them imprisoned and enslaved.
