And in Simon Schama's recent document there was a clip of Obama at one of his pre-election rallies.

"There’s nothing that can stop us, because that’s God’s intention. So, I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God."

Of course, he didn't really mean it..

Surely Obama doesn't think he's going to be doing God's will in the White House? Surely Bush was the only president who's ever thought that and said it publicly and who's worth attacking over it? Surely all the same people who reviled Bush for this reason are going to treat Obama the same way? Surely!

She can wait for the second coming for all the good it will do her. By 2012, there will be new faces in the Republican party. If she wants to stay in Washington DC she ought to run for Senator. I know the Alaskan moose would vote for her. I'll bet she's a dead eye with a 12 gage standing on the back of a dog sled with a full team of dogs running as fast as they can.

And she's wrong because, God could'nt possibly choose a redneck like her, or there is no God. Tick as applicable.

nosebleedtweedledeedee, I hate to be the one to break it to you, I'm sure your minister will be furious with me already having you know that there is no Santa Claus either but the applicable box is....sorry to spoil your life but....it's choice number two. I was wrong about Obama never getting elected, I could be wrong about Palin. Stranger things have happened.

If Sarah Palin tells us that God has called her to run for President in 2012, would that mean she's a sure fire bet for the White House?

Or if she runs and fails would it mean God had backed the wrong side or would it mean Sarah sorta, hadn't, maybe, heard him, at all?

I don't have a minister and don't want one.You are not spoiling my life.I could'nt agree more with your choice of box, and it would'nt surprise me either if she became the USAs first woman president (though I think it is more likely that she wiil sink back into obscurity and Amrican politics will have moved on by the time the next election comes along)

nosebleedtweedledeedee, I gave that minister whats-his-name, you know the one who occasionally swoops down, drops his little bombshells and hightails it outta here as fast has he can flap his wings and wiggle his halo plenty of chances on the other threads but he chose to ignore them. I even told him I was god's challenge to him, that is if there is a god. But I have to admit he has a tough row to hoe with me. After all, not only have I been an unflinching atheist all of my life, do not believe in heaven or hell, but I have faced what I thought was imminent death twice in my life and much to my astonishment both times, I found I was not afraid to die. This was the biggest surprise I had. How nice to know that when the end does come, the prospect of the end of life, of consciousness, of being for all eternity will not be in any way distressing to me. I simply accepted it as the way the universe is and have moved on. That seems to be a point where a lot of other people in this world are stuck. How lucicrously preoccupied they are with their own imagined self importance in the largest scheme of things.

As a religious person, I consider Palin to be a blasphemer. Her trumpeting of religion while failing to follow the simple tenets thereof is a sure sign that her religion is either ill-informed, false, or twisted. (Of course, many people's religions are. Mine may even be.)

It is unlikely that she'll make it to the nomination stage, given the scandals that she's had as Governor. (Then again, Bush and Clinton made it...)

Of course, I am curious, and this ties in with another post, when will the Catholic Church withhold communion from Biden, not over abortion, but for his violation of the "Just War" doctrine in his drum beating for the invasion of Iraq?

We are forgetting that a good American President should have excellent comedic value.
This is my chief concern about Barak Obama's presidency. Who will provide the laughs? If only he had picked Palin as VP - there was a sit-com that the world has been cruelly denied.

Joe Biden is known for making gaffes. In addition, while I may be more hostile outwardly towards Palin, I loathe Biden far more. After all, he stacked the Senate hearings on going to war with Iraq with war supporters, not allowing a single opponent to testify.

That's no joking matter.
