Prospects for Tuesday 9th September

Len Freeman | 11:34 UK time, Tuesday, 9 September 2008

With prospects for tonight's programme, here is today's output editor, Robert Morgan.

Good morning everyone,

There are a few strong stories around today. Paul and Neil are at the TUC to see Darling's speech. Is there anything new we can do on the airline plot trial? Osborne's spending plans and Bush's Iraq troop announcement could be worth doing too.

We have an Andy North film on knife crime which I'll tell you more about in the meeting.

Robert.

After watching yesterdays Newsnight, do we have any prospects? we're all gonna get blown up, financially crunched or sucked into a black hole..and in the meantime our leaders don't know what day it is but crack- on as if everything is hunky dory. It's a wonder i am not an alcoholic!...Did Hutton drink all the wine? is there any left...

Thought the Cern report was good last night as it took on a very difficult subject.

If Iraq becomes "too" stable can Maliki renegotiate the oil and rebuilding contracts?

Just seen that 8000 troops are going back to the US by Feb 2009 from Iraq. Is the UK going to be bringing back its troops from Iraq too?

    Dear Jeremy

A black male friend said to me."Don't have any (liberal left) pity for them, they are greedy little bastards who do it (rob)cause they can" I live on an estate in NW1. Go down to somewhere like St Pancras Station and look around... none of the vast amount of employees there come from our area - on its doorstep because they just are not up to standard I was told- why is that?
I know that now the Â鶹Éç has to be careful what it says (since WMD and Gilligan etc) but please show some film and good news story on those countries who have dealt with the drugs problem by DECRIMINALISING (not legalising) drug use.. I believe in Portugal and Switzerland and Italy,,, The knife business has a lot to do with dealing. It could be curbed drastically if their bottom fell out of their market!
NB: beside knifes - a lot of these guys have taken to owning 'fight' dogs. The council allow them to be owned in the flats here (how come these guys are 'given' flats is another interesting question in this land of 'perverse incentives' . Anyway, I feel i am being forced to move out (make an exchange etc) because the council is effectivly useless at making these dog owners obey their tenancy agreements. I have tried to get some action for months to no avail regards Sandi
