Jon Boden's Surprise Session
Jon Boden did a great busking spot this morning before things had actually kicked off. At 1100 armed only with his fiddle, he stood in the middle of the festival field and sang and played up a storm to the early morning crowd.
Not to be outdone the crowd went and got their guitars, fiddles and mandolins and played alongside Jon in what became a massive jam. It was a magical moment, Jon's voice is better than ever, more mellow and less jagged and he did cracking versions of Yarmouth Town and London Town.
It was a great start to a day which has just got better as it has gone on. Crooked Still , Jim Moray and Cara Dillon have all done totally brilliant spots and I'm really looking forward to this evening and have marked down Martin Simpson Los Lobos and The Saw Doctors for a special coat of looking at.
The last time I saw the Saw Doctors live was in a tiny hall in Connemara where they played a great set then proceeded to play drink and sing all through the night. They have to be one of the best live bands on the scene, definitely up there with Bellowhead and Steamchicken.
Pure enjoyment comes blasting out over the stage whenever they are on and wherever I've seen the Saw Doctors, from big festival stages to little halls they have had the audience on their feet and singing along with every song -- great stuff.
I'm off for a plate of chips now to fortify myself for the night ahead.

Don't forget we folk down in sunny Sidmouth. And yes, it actually is sunny today. Loads of stuff happening here all week including some of the names you've mentioned at Cambridge.
Personal favourites so far have been Spooky Men's Chorale on Tuesday and Faustus last Saturday. Really looking forward to Tom McConville tomorrow night.
Just because Radio 2 isn't down here doing all the broadcasts, don't think we aren't still having a ball!
