Every day's an adventure!ÌýWe were playing Amberley Folk Club on Tuesday night, but Hannah who co-runs the club was kind enough to put us up for two nights, and so we headed straight from London to Sussex.ÌýWhat followed was two days holiday in glorious sunshine getting to know Hannah's lovely family. Idyllic, and just what was needed after Sunday's madness.

Another great thing about folk clubs are the floor spots. Amberley had two particularly good acts, Steve Winchester sang self-penned song 'Ghosts' with co-organiser Jon Wigg adding sympathetic fiddle accompaniment, and there was a beautiful lullaby-like version of The Galway Hooker from Mark Williams.Ìý I've still not found a better way of being inspired to sing and learn and create than to listen in on a group a people taking a turn.

So now I'm back at Doncaster Station waiting on a train home for a couple of days office work (no rest for the wicked/self employed).ÌýJust catching up with my podcasts, and very much enjoying Karen Casey's interview on Mike's show.Ìý There's a great skill in making every song word easily heard and still managing to carry the listener with the story.Ìý Karen not only achieves this but makes it seem effortlessly passionate.ÌýThe Solas album is a favourite, and I can't wait to hear her new album in full.ÌýIt's also great to hear her version of Joni Mitchell's The Fiddle and The Drum.
